World Environment Day 2026: Molygran’s Commitment to Climate Action
World Environment Day 2026, observed on 5 June, is a powerful reminder that the future of our planet depends on urgent, collective action. This year’s theme, “A Global Call for Climate Action,” hosted by Azerbaijan in Baku, calls on businesses, communities, and individuals to work together with purpose. The #NowForClimate campaign captures that sense of momentum and responsibility, urging us to act now rather than later. At Molygran, we share that urgency, and as an EPS converter, environmental responsibility has long been central to the way we operate.

Our Environmental Journey: Building a Sustainable Future
Over recent years, we have continued to invest in our facilities with sustainability at the core of every decision. When we extended our building, we designed the project to be as environmentally responsible as possible from the outset. We converted all of our lighting to LED throughout the premises, helping us reduce energy use and improve efficiency. We also enhanced insulation across the site to support better thermal performance and lower energy demand. In addition, we achieved ISO 14001 certification, the international standard for environmental management systems that provides a framework for effective environmental practices. As an EPS converter, environmental consciousness has always been central to our operations, and it continues to guide how we grow and improve. These steps are part of our ongoing commitment to building a more sustainable future for our business and our wider community.
Future Ambitions: Driving Forward with Sustainability
As we look to the future, Molygran is committed to further enhancing our sustainability efforts and setting new benchmarks in environmental responsibility. A significant part of this vision is our ambition to transition to an entirely electric fleet for deliveries. By adopting electric vehicles, we aim to significantly reduce our carbon footprint, minimise air pollution, and contribute to cleaner, greener communities. This transition is not just a step towards reducing emissions, but also a statement of our commitment to leading by example in the industry.
Moreover, we are hopeful for continued growth and expansion of our recycling facilities for expanded polystyrene (EPS). While we have made strides in recycling, our goal is to make these services even more accessible. We envision a future where local recycling centers are more prevalent, making it easier for communities to participate in sustainable practices. Across the UK, there are many like-minded companies offering similar recycling services, and we believe that by working together, we can create a network of accessible recycling facilities.
Through these efforts, Molygran is not only aiming to enhance our operations but also to inspire others to join us on this journey towards a sustainable future. We are excited about the path ahead and remain committed to fostering a culture of environmental responsibility both within our company and beyond.
Sustainable Manufacturing Practices at Molygran
At Molygran, sustainability is woven into every aspect of our manufacturing processes. We are committed to continually improving our operations to minimise our environmental impact while maintaining the highest quality standards.
Lean Manufacturing: Efficiency Meets Sustainability
Our dedication to lean manufacturing principles ensures that we operate with maximum efficiency and minimal waste. By optimising our production processes, we not only reduce resource consumption but also enhance our environmental performance. This ongoing improvement helps us conserve energy and materials, underscoring our commitment to sustainable manufacturing.
Responsible Supplier Partnerships
Choosing suppliers and partners who share our environmental values is vital to our sustainability efforts. We carefully select those who prioritise eco-friendly practices and share our vision for a greener future. This alignment helps us maintain a supply chain that supports our goals of reducing emissions and waste.
High-Quality Polystyrene Blocks
Our polystyrene blocks are crafted to the highest standards, ensuring durability and sustainability. Since the introduction of the Plastic Packaging Tax in 2018, we have significantly shifted our materials to include at least 30% recycled content in our packaging. This shift has drastically reduced the need for new virgin materials, aligning with our goal of minimising environmental impact.
Commitment to Recycling
Recycling is a cornerstone of our sustainability strategy. We offer free recycling services, accepting EPS from our customers, local communities, and our own off-cuts. In 2025 alone, we proudly processed and sent 50 tonnes of recycled EPS to be transformed into new, usable products. This effort not only reduces waste but also supports the circular economy, turning what was once discarded into valuable resources.
Through these manufacturing practices, Molygran is dedicated to leading by example in the industry, demonstrating that sustainable practices and high-quality products can go hand in hand. We are proud of the strides we have made and remain committed to pushing the boundaries of sustainable manufacturing for a better future.
In the spirit of World Environment Day 2026, Molygran remains a shining example of dedication to sustainable practices and climate action. Through ongoing efforts to reduce energy consumption, enhance recycling, and embrace eco-friendly innovations, Molygran not only prioritises environmental responsibility within its operations but also inspires others to embark on a sustainable journey. As a leader in the industry, we continue to champion a future where collective efforts lead to meaningful climate action.
