The Project – Expanded Polystyrene Carpet Cassettes for Carpet Displays
For many years hanging carpet samples over wooden dowels creating sample displays was the norm. However, these did not provide security of the sample pieces. Carpet manufacturers have looked for a solution for this and are now using expanded polystyrene carpet cassettes.
Visitors taking the sample pieces of carpet off the dowels and taking them away from the showrooms left the displays looking tired and unprofessional. Thus leaving manufacturers with incomplete display units. Often sample pieces of the most popular carpet designs were removed from the displays. This was resulting in loss of sales of these ranges as visitors did not have them as samples to view.
They were, therefore, looking for an alternative for their displays to provide a more secure and aesthetically pleasing display. EPS carpet cassettes have completely changed the way manufacturers display their carpets samples. The brief
Carpet displays had been the same for many years; carpet samples hung over wooden dowels. However, as years have gone by, manufacturers have noticed one particular issue with the sample pieces being taken off the dowels and taken offsite by visitors. In need of a more secure and permanent fixture, they came to Molygran in the hope expanded polystyrene could be the answer.
The new display needed to hold the carpet samples more securely whilst still having a sleek minimalist design. It needed to be lightweight so as not to affect timings and costs in the during the setup of the displays. It also needed to be durable to withstand the heavy use and the lifetime of the product as ranges are not often changed.
The solution
Along came expanded polystyrene carpet cassettes. A design completely different from that of the previous wooden dowel system. For many years we have worked alongside carpet manufacturers to design carpet cassettes to meet their needs. From rounded, key-shape, horizontal and diagonal, there is nothing that phases us. The more peculiar, the better for us!
